Abstract

The primary objective of this study was to show the relationship between language and culture using the Garifuna people, an Antilles community in Central America as case study. The study was supported by ethnographic research method in order to ascertain the relationship between the Garifuna people and their West African origin. The study further examined the socio-cultural aspect of the people, the language structure and concludes that there exists a relationship between the Garifuna people and their homeland, West Africa.
